As CEO and founder of Sun Management, I love introducing new technology into the marketplace and then assuring its successful implementation into our clients’ organizations. The challenge of displacing the comfortable incumbent with the next innovative generation provides the challenge of competition that I love. I know without competition, there can’t be any growth. I am a father of two wonderful daughters, Nicole and Delia, and have been happily married to Maura since 2000. I enjoy swimming, cycling, shooting pool, a game of chess and a good argument. My degree in engineering, science and mechanics is from Virginia Tech.
As CTO, my main goal is to discover alternative, innovative solutions for our customers using the creativity and engineering expertise our clients have come to expect from Sun Management. I like to spend most of my time with clients to learn more about their current and emerging problems and exploring ways to effectively use different tools to solve those problems. I enjoy spending time with my partner, Christine, and my 3 children. Together we ski, hike, listen to music and try new foods.

I have been tackling the most challenging problems in IT for over 25 years with experience in the non-profit, commercial, and federal government sectors. My career spans the gamut from web application development to system administration, network engineering, as well as both defensive & offensive security in both traditional IT and OT/Control System/IoT environments. Over that time, I’ve realized the key to successful defense of a network lies not only in the tools deployed but is largely dependent on the capabilities of people who operate and manage them and that is my focus.
As one of only 32 active Captains in the USCG Reserve, I created and built the now 165-member strong Reserve Cyber Program, putting reserve cyber expertise at every operational command Coast Guard wide as well as at USCYBERCOM to focus on the cyber protection of our nation’s Marine Transportation System. I now serve as the Chief of the Reserve Intelligence Program, guiding the program through the biggest structural redesign since the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Over my career, I have been awarded 4 Meritorious Service Medals in addition to 6 Achievement medals.
I hold a master’s degree in Strategic Intelligence from American Military University, a graduate certificate from the US Naval War College, and a bachelor’s in computer science from Hope College. I earned my CISSP in 2002, am one of the top-rated Palo Alto instructors in North America, and hold numerous SANS GIAC certifications to include GRID, GICSP, GCFA, and GLEG. I hold seats on the Palo Alto Networks Training Center and Technical Advisory Boards as well as SANS GIAC Advisory Board.
As VP of Sales, I am focused on the strategic direction of the sales force and direct sales. I want to build and expand Client relationships through the delivery of comprehensive IT solutions, combining best-in-class products with industry leading expertise.
Prior to working for Sun Management, I held sales positions at Brocade, Hitachi, and Aruba / HPE. Prior to entering sales, I was an IT Consultant and Engineer for Sun Microsystems working with many of the Fortune 500 companies across the US. My Engineering expertise focused on helping Clients build, secure, and manage their IT Infrastructures while simplifying complex architectural designs.
I have three wonderful children, Taylor, Rebecca, and Austin, and enjoy boating, fishing, golfing, and spending time with my family.
Although less hectic than my prior role as a critical care and case management nurse, the ever-changing landscape of cyberspace intrigues me and keeps me motivated to manage the day-to-day finances at Sun Management. When I’m not juggling tasks at work, my husband, Rick, and I can be found cycling on the surprisingly extensive network of gravel roads in northern Virginia. I also volunteer for the Land Trust of Virginia.
As Senior Network Security Engineer, I am responsible for pre- and post-sale support for Palo Alto solutions as well as the emerging technologies Sun Management adds to our product portfolio. I help with customer implementations including the analysis and design of network architecture, firewall migrations and the implementation of advance feature sets found within the Palo Alto product line. I also specialize in the deployment of Palo Alto products within Microsoft’s Azure cloud infrastructure.
I earned a Master of Science from Towson University in Applied Information Technology and also have professional certifications (CISSP, PCNSC, PCNSE).
I joined Sun Management in 2007 after serving as resident engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) where I helped design, implement and operate networking and security technologies that make up the DoD Enterprise Web Content Filtering and Intrusion Prevention System solutions. I have worked with Palo Alto Networks since Day 1 of their existence which makes me part of Sun Management’s solid foundation of Palo Alto Networks solutions.
I have Palo Alto PCNSE and PCNSC Engineering and Professional Services certifications and maintain “Hero” status in the Palo Alto Networks’ Cyberforce Partner Program.
